The Myanmar Photo Archive and Goethe Institute Yangon are excited to announce a special opportunity for 20 individuals to participate in a comprehensive two-day online digitization training program. During this workshop, you’ll learn about historic photographs and materials with guidance from the Myanmar Photo Archive team. Throughout the workshop, you’ll gain invaluable insights into preserving physical prints, negatives, and various archive materials, mastering the art of scanning and digitizing them with ease. Whether you’re using a smartphone or a computer, you’ll learn essential techniques for enhancing and preserving these precious images.

Our goal is to expand the Myanmar Photo Archive to various communities across the country, and you can play a vital role in preserving Myanmar’s history by safeguarding its visual culture and memory.

When: 16th and 17th March, 2024

 

What to Expect:

Essential digitization techniques for photos and negatives

Exploring archival materials and identifying the age of photos

Learning innovative methods for reproducing images using your camera or phone, along with light sources

Demonstrations of scanning processes

Discussions on the value of historic materials and their impact on community storytelling

Discussion on digitization stations locally

Who Should Apply:

We’re looking for 20 individuals who are passionate about history and storytelling. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced enthusiast, if you’re dedicated to preserving visual culture within your community, this program is for you.

No prior knowledge is required. Simply bring your phone or camera, as well as any historical materials you possess or can access within your community.
