History inside Photographs

By History of Burma

In our colorful-images world nowadays, young people like to experiment with photography as a hobby. If we look back, the black and white photos of the past are still invaluable in the colorful world of now. Why is that? A historical imagery can fill us with awe. Let’s take a journey to the past….

Yangon of once upon a time in the past in old photographs show us how old and invaluable these buildings in front of us are now. Their past is in black and white but it doesn’t make them worthless. The buildings in these photographs, Jubilee Hall, City Hall from colonial era, and Yangon Central Post Office now only exist in their true forms before renovation in these black and white photographs due to the second world war. Yangon before the second world war has old trains and steam trains running on the streets throughout the city. Now the photographs will prove their existence.

Burmese Photographers were rare in the past eras and it is our duty now to preserve what’s left of their legacy (photographs) as invaluable items of the past. Looking at the past with a longing heart makes you feel nostalgia. As old as they are, the photographs embody a past that will not return. Therefore, the history inside Photographs can benefit people in unimaginable ways.
